Steingrímur was working at a road closure at the Reykjavik Marathon and he said Svein hit him – Svein completely denies this and says Steingrímur caused damage to his car

Steingrímur Ólafsson, who was working at a checkpoint set up for the Reykjavík Marathon today, said a man became upset at not being allowed through the checkpoint and ended up running into him. Steingrímur plans to file a complaint against the man, who he says is Svein Elías Elíasson, long known by the nickname “NO1DAD.” Svein Elias denies Steingrímur’s allegations in full, saying that, on the contrary, he drove past him to prevent the latter from causing further damage to the car than he had already done, and plans to sue Steingrímur for property damage.

Swayne became famous in the past few years for his participation in freestyle swimming and has many children, and when he was given the unique number NO1DAD, which has long been known, it attracted a lot of attention. On the other hand, Swayne has long stopped athletics and now participates in bench press competitions.

Stangrimur said he knew Swain well due to his previous contact with him when he was a doorman. However, Swain said this was not true as he rarely drank and had not been to the club in more than ten years.

In a conversation with DV, Steingrímur said that the closure station is located at the N1 service station in Hringbraut. Steingrímur said that only people who need to go to the Landspítalan in Hringbraut and return the rental car to BSÍ can pass the closure station. None of these conditions apply to Svein.

The so-called collision

Stangeremoor said that when he told Sven he would not be allowed to pass through the closure station, Sven cursed him with sand and ashes and told him to “get out of here.” Stangeremoor said he then turned and walked away. He then heard a call:

“careful.”

Swayne then managed to get through the blockade and headed straight toward Stangrim, where he ended up on the hood of a car. Stangrimrim said the blockade consisted of a pickup truck and several road cones lined up in a row, which Swayne passed through.

Although he did not call an ambulance, Steingrimur said he was left with some physical damage after the collision, with knee pain and bruises. Earlier today, he told DV that he would go to the accident and emergency department in Landspítal when he had finished his work at the finish line and when runners who needed the services of the accident and emergency department had left the Reykjavík Marathon. Steingrimur said he did this to avoid waiting for hours. He also pointed out to DV that while his injuries were not serious enough to require an ambulance, injuries after the collision could appear some time after the collision.

Both parties filed complaints

Steingrímur said Svein apparently had an incident at the N1 gas station and drove directly into the activity area of the gas station after the collision. Since he worked at the station, Steingrímur had a radio that he could use to call the police. Police on motorcycles soon arrived and spoke to Svein, but did not arrest him. Steingrímur said he would file a complaint against Svein.

In a conversation with DV, Svein told a very different story about his relationship with Steingrím. Svein said he drove to the terminal with his wife and daughter. The purpose was to enter the N1 service station to pick up his son’s jacket, which he had left there. The boy’s mobile phone was in the jacket pocket, and the boy was participating in the Reykjavík Marathon. Svein said he politely asked to be driven to the gas station, but Steingrím was rude to him and his wife, beat up the car, poured drinks on him and behaved in a threatening manner, which frightened his daughter. Svein said his daughter asked if the car was locked.

Swayne said that in order to flee and avoid causing further damage to the car, he drove past Steingrim’s while Steingrim’s hit the car and poured a drink on it. Swayne said he had no choice but to keep going because the next car behind him was too close to back up. Swayne said that if he had actually driven into Steingrim’s, the police who arrived on the scene would have arrested him, but they did not. Swayne said he showed them the video recording from his car’s camera, which further proved that he did not drive into Steingrim’s. Swayne said he plans to file a property damage complaint against Steingrim’s.

Photos and Videos

The DV contains photos and videos of part of the sequence of events. A video shot from another car at close range shows Swain driving forward at a limited speed while Stangrimur stands in front of the car, trying to prevent its movement and thus force the closure. Stangrimur can be seen reversing out of the car while Swain drives forward, stopping more or less alternately, and then the former is seen hitting the hood of the car, spilling his drink in a can, and then reversing out of the car while the latter is driving forward until he finally dodges and Swain drives over. However, the video does not show the beginning of the sequence of events.

In the photo of Swain’s car, you can see that there is some damage to its hood. In the photo and video taken closer to the scene, Stangrimul can be seen hitting the hood with some force and spilling the drink on it. He stands in front of the car and Swain continues to move forward, but then appears to stop, and then Stangrimul swerves and Swain drives over. As with the other videos, the sequence of events is not shown in full. This video is also shorter than the previous one.

Which party is more responsible in this case will not be decided here, but since both parties plan to file complaints, it is clear that the case is not over. Screenshots of the two videos are shown below.

Swain denied that Stangeremur actually met him at his job as a janitor, which had been added to the original version of the news article.
