Starnieuws – Security unions hold emergency meetings simultaneously

The security unions have called separate emergency general meetings for Wednesday. This involves the Suriname Police Association, the Prison Officers Association and the Security and Assistance Services Association. All three unions are meeting at 9am.

The issue of wage negotiations is on the agenda of the three unions. The police union also has hot issues around the National Health Insurance Fund, overdue decisions and resolutions, lack of promotions and appointments, uniforms and personal equipment, lack of medals, fuel and transportation issues. Working conditions are also discussed. The aim is to take a decision at the general meeting.

The Suriname Prison Officers Association held a meeting in the C-47 building. The agenda included issues surrounding the National Health Insurance Fund, uniforms and personal equipment, allowances, passes, lack of medals and bonuses. Fuel and transport as well as working conditions were also topics of discussion.

The Suriname Security and Assistance Service Personnel Association also has salary negotiations as its main agenda item. The association also has issues with the National Health Insurance Fund, uniforms and personal equipment. The lack of medals/honorary payments and working conditions are discussed. Decisions will also be made here.
