A celebration at St. Joseph Elementary School on Thursday raised about $30,000.
In the morning, parents, family and friends gathered on the school grounds to prepare and grill food, kebabs and curries, and purchase raffle prizes and plates of food.
The students had a great time at the popular bouncy castle and enjoyed face painting and coconut bowls.
Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister Albert Nicolas donated the folding table to the school, which was blessed by Bishop Reinaldo Guetalado.
Last week, the school held a Mass of Thanksgiving at St Joseph’s Cathedral to welcome Bishop Paul Donoghue – his final church service for the school.
The student’s mid-year school report was distributed to parents and guardians on Tuesday, and a teacher-parent reporting interview was conducted.
Last month, the school held a breakfast session – a new initiative at St Joseph’s – where children brought cereal, fruit and milk to school, and parents donated breakfast items.
The morning session was a success as pupils enjoyed sharing the experience of school breakfast.
