A special forces officer arrested for brutally beating his neighbor has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a judge. Dmitriy Revazashvili did not break his silence during the trial and did not explain why he killed his friend for corporal punishment.
During today’s trial, the defendant’s lawyers requested that the detainees be released in lieu of bail of GEL 10,000, but Judge Tamar Mchedlishvili did not grant this request.
During today’s trial, it was also revealed that shortly after the physical attack, the police found Revazashvili and questioned him, although he was quickly released by the police station. Afterwards, the special forces were summoned to the department again as a witness. It was determined that he washed the clothes that Revazashvili was wearing at the time of the incident, so now the investigation will have difficulty finding evidence against him.
The lawyer claimed there was no basis for taking precautionary measures.
There is no factual and formal basis for the use of the detention measure. The mother of one of them came to him, says Briaze, although she was not forced in any way. The victim’s wife says this, does not it mean that there is some kind of reference or some kind of reference? If the clothes are washed, how can it be determined whether they were what she wore when the accident happened? About 5 minutes after the person I protect left the scene of the accident, the chief of police, Zhamerashvili, put him in the car and took him first to the police station, then to the main office, where they kept him for several hours, if he was suspected of committing a crime, did he wear clothes? Did anyone stop him? – says the lawyer.
It is also reported that the investigation team has filed a criminal case against Ioseb Barjadze, a witness in the case, who is currently in hiding. He is accused of failing to report a serious crime.
As for the victim, his health condition deteriorated today, according to doctors.
