It was feast for Madrid and heartbreak in London as England lost their second consecutive European Championship final, having lost on penalties to Italy.
Shortly after the first half, Nico Williams received a perfect assist from Yamine Lamar and shot into Jordan Pickford’s goal in the 47th minute to give Spain the lead.
Substitute Cole Palmer equalised for England in the 73rd minute, but England’s hopes were dashed when Oyarzabal scored and sent the Spanish fans into a frenzy.
Four minutes of injury time were not enough for England to equalise, as Spain went on to win the European Championship for a record fourth time: having previously won the title in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
England lost yet again in the final, meaning they have not won a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup.
