Equestrian competitions resumed this Sunday with the show jumping competition. For the first time since mid-May, about a hundred riders responded to the Yala Ranch in Dumbéa.

This Sunday, 112 riders gathered at the Yala Ranch in Dumbéa. An opportunity for several clubs from the southern province to come together. What made Fantyne, a member of the Dumbéa club, happy:”We saw all the other guys from the other clubs. It also gave us a little bit of a social life again anyway. And then, it felt good to be out there playing, to be out there again.”
Yelena, also from the Dumbéa club, is eager to rediscover this competitive atmosphere: “exist I didn’t expect that I would actually be able to compete this year. It was kind of expected that this race would happen this weekend. I’m glad it happened. If there were any other races, I would certainly do everything I could to compete.”
Due to these events, some competitions had to be cancelled. But this did not stop coaches and clubs from working with the French Equestrian Federation to organize this official federal competition. For Thibaud Damas, it was a matter of time before the competitions resumed, from the Ouessan stables to Ratamoia,”CIt’s important to keep riders motivated. Training at home is good, but after a while, we need a carrot to keep us going. Competitions are a bit like that product, which allows us to guide training and help riders improve.”
The drivers have already noted it in their diaries…two more races are scheduled for September.
