Due to the growing demand for hybrid vehicles, South Korea’s sales of environmentally friendly cars exceeded 100,000 units in the first quarter of this year, and the total sales of five local Korean automakers, including Hyundai Motor and Kia, reached 101,717 units in the first three months of this year, an increase of 8.7% over the same period last year.
Data shows that hybrid vehicles increased by 42.4% over last year, accounting for 84.4% of the total number of environmentally friendly vehicles.
On the other hand, electric vehicle sales fell 51.4% from 31,337 units in the first quarter of last year to 15,237 units in the first quarter of this year.
