In fact, this situation is not uncommon in Benin. In November 2023, the Lokossa Court sentenced a man to six years in prison for digging up his uncle’s body and removing his skull. This was in response to his witch doctor’s request to provide two human skulls. The man admitted the facts and cooperated with the police, not like he wanted to meet the witch doctor’s demands. The police investigation was unfavorable to the witch doctor. As a result, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
