MOGADISHU (HOL) – Somalia’s Ministry of Interior and Reconciliation on Wednesday issued a strong call for an immediate end to the ongoing clan conflict in Erigawo district of the Sanaag region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the recent violence, which has caused casualties on both sides and forced dozens of families to flee their homes.
The ministry in a press release called on local elders, religious scholars and district administrators to take decisive action to stop the bloodshed.
The new conflict was sparked by a series of revenge killings in which traders in the area and other prominent figures from the involved tribes were targeted.
The ministry stressed the importance of reconciliation and urged all parties to prioritize peace and stability in the region.
