Solomon Airlines will operate flight IE726 every Thursday at 9am, with a flight time of 2 hours and 50 minutes, arriving in Santorini at 12:50pm local time.
The first Solomon Airlines flight from Brisbane to Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, landed at the San Pekoa International Airport to applause from onlookers and a water cannon salute, marking the re-opening of weekly international flights from Brisbane, Australia to Vanuatu.
Upon leaving Brisbane International Airport, passengers were presented with a commemorative flight certificate to mark the occasion and were warmly welcomed at Santo with fresh Salusalu (flower garlands), welcome music played by a local string band and fresh coconuts distributed to each passenger.
Solomon Airlines will operate flight IE726 every Thursday at 9am, with a flight time of 2 hours and 50 minutes, arriving in Santorini at 12:50pm local time.
The return flights from Santo will operate on Thursday as flight IE726, departing Santo at 1:50pm and arriving in Port Vila at 2:35pm; and flight IE718, departing Port Vila at 3:35pm and arriving in Brisbane at 5:40pm.
Adela Issachar Aru, CEO of the Vanuatu Tourism Authority, said: “We are delighted to welcome the first flight back to Espiritu Santo.

“This direct service enables visitors to once again answer the call of Vanuatu, making it easier than ever for Australians to explore the wonders of Santo, from the pristine beaches of the Champagne Coast to the stunning Blue Holes.”

The weekly Airbus A320 flights have re-opened a vital passenger and cargo route between Australia and Vanuatu via the Brisbane gateway. Located in the northern islands of Vanuatu, Espiritu Santo is the country’s largest island and one of the most popular international holiday destinations.
