The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a series of severe weather warnings for provinces across the country since Monday.

A yellow level 2 snowstorm warning has been issued, mainly affecting the central Western Cape and southern Northern Cape.

SAWS forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said the Eastern Cape was also expected to receive widespread snowfall, with snow extending into the Drakensberg Mountains and into Lesotho.
