On June 6, a tragic car accident and fire occurred in Shirak region. At around 21:35, a Mercedes-Benz car ran out of the lane on the 132-kilometer section of the Yerevan-Gyumri-Vanadzor highway in the Jajur administrative district under unknown circumstances, collided with rocks, and finally fell into the highway.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the collision caused a fire in the car and two people were sent to Gyumri Medical Center with varying degrees of injuries.

A combat unit of the Fire and Rescue Team of the Shirak Marz Rescue Department of the RA Ministry of Interior Rescue Department arrived at the scene.

Emergency doctors also work very quickly.

A patrol team from the Shirak Marz Battalion of the RA MIA Police Patrol, led by Battalion Commander Karen Kureghyan, Deputy Battalion Commander Vanik Saghoyan, and Battalion Senior Inspector Aghasi Khachatryan, also arrived at the scene.

Artur Bdoyan, the chief of the Shirak regional police department, arrived at the scene.

Information about the incident was transferred from the National Security Service Shirak Marz Battalion to the RA Investigation Committee Shirak Marz Investigation Department, from where an investigation team led by the head of the department and the investigator on duty arrived on the same day.

While law enforcement officers were working at the scene, they received a call from the hospital saying that one of the injured had died after failed rescue efforts.

In view of the facts of this incident, the Shirak Regional Investigation Department has initiated criminal proceedings and announced the identities of the driver, the dead and the injured.

According to the information of the photojournalist, the deceased is 49-year-old Ara Khachatryan, a resident of Gyumri and one of the noblest and most respected Gyumri people in Shirakmaz.
