Shenango High School athlete DJ Graham has died at the age of 17.

Graham, from NewcastlePennsylvania, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

He is a student at Shenango High School, where he plays baseball. As a sophomore, DJ was named Rookie of the Year.

Graham’s death was announced by schools Superintendent Dr. Joseph McCormick in a letter to students and parents on Wednesday:We are deeply saddened to learn that a 17-year-old Shenango High School student tragically passed away last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends.”

Shenango High School’s varsity football game against Ellwood City scheduled for Friday was postponed because of the tragedy.

David James ‘DJ’ Graham was born on August 25, 2007 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to James and Sarah Graham (née) Knopp.

He has three siblings, Julia, Elizabeth, and Evan.

DJ grew up in Mercer, Pennsylvania, and played Little League baseball. In addition to baseball (which he obviously loved), he also excelled in soccer, basketball, and golf. Graham also enjoyed fishing.
