The Al Ain Court of First Instance ruled that a woman must pay Dh25,000 plus costs and expenses to her ex-husband because of a quarrel between them before the divorce after the wife locked the door and kept the key to prevent her husband from leaving for a trip, and she also tried to provoke him and spoke to him loudly.

The court ruled on the cross-claim filed by the wife, ordering the husband to pay her Dh25,000, while also requiring him to pay costs and expenses for conviction on charges of insult and battery.

The case stated that the defendant was the plaintiff’s wife before his divorce, who received an invitation from a company to attend the company’s annual meeting. On the day of the trip, she locked the door of her home, kept the key, and prevented him from leaving, and tried to provoke him and spoke loudly to him. After trying to calm her down, he called his mother, but she threw the phone on the ground, causing it to be damaged. , and insulted him.

The police arrived at the scene, drew up a report and heard statements from both parties, which prompted the husband to file a lawsuit for damages of Dh100,000 for the damages he had suffered, with legal interest at the rate of 12% from the date of the lawsuit until full payment, and also for her to pay costs and expenses and legal fees because she cursed him and destroyed his mobile phone, which contained his personal data, causing damage to his work because he did not travel and attend meetings.

Although the court clarified the cross-claim filed by the wife, it appears from the criminal judgment that the defendant was found guilty of violating the plaintiff’s bodily integrity and insulting her, as she suffered material and moral damages due to the physical and mental pain caused to her by these injuries, as well as the fear, panic and pain I felt during the attack and the ensuing insult, which caused her moral damages, the court ruled in the above judgment.
