Fate did not want to smile on the 7-year-old girl, who was injured in an accident caused by a 17-year-old minor near the Pantelimon Park in the capital, in which his brother died. Doctors at the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in Bucharest decided to amputate the leg of the girl who was injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday near a park in Bucharest. The young man who caused the accident and injured the girl and killed her brother was remanded in custody for 30 days. His friend, the one who left the car in his hands, is being investigated under judicial control. “Unfortunately, a few hours after the reimplantation operation, complications arose in the evening due to the crush syndrome caused by the accident. Life-threatening complications arose, so it was decided to urgently amputate the affected lower limb. Today the girl’s condition is stable and slightly better than yesterday. She is still intubated and receiving mechanical ventilation,” the doctors said on Tuesday.
The doctors spent nine hours in the operating room.
Representatives of the Grigore Alexandrescu Children’s Hospital said on Monday morning that the 7-year-old girl was brought to SMURD in a serious condition, intubated and mechanically ventilated, and her left leg was quasi-amputated from the thigh. Immediately after the accident, doctors entered the operating room, where a multidisciplinary team of anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons and plastic surgeons replanted the leg. The femoral artery and all structures – bones (multiple fractures), muscles, body skin – were restored, the doctors said. The operation lasted 9 hours. Later, however, complications arose.
The father of the minor who ran over two children with his car near a park in the capital said he was sorry for “what happened”. In addition, the sister of the teenager who crushed two brothers to death with his car near a park in the capital told CNN’s Antena 3 that the tragedy began with “a child’s play”.
