Shakib Cham has opened up about the challenges he faced in his marriage to socialite Zari Hassan, stressing on the importance of mutual respect.
Shakib revealed that he initially believed their love was strong but he soon realised that their relationship lacked respect.
The mistake I made was thinking that love was mutual. Without respect, a marriage cannot last.
Despite his fame as Zari’s husband, Shakib said he did not gain much from the marriage. Instead, he felt disrespected by Zari’s actions and comments, which he said disregarded his mental health and emotions.
Shakib had asked her not to share such content (about Zari and Diamond Platnooz) online as it could be used to mock him. He even pointed out that despite the fact that Ugandan singer Rema Namakula co-parents her children with her ex-husband Eddie Kenzo, she has never disrespected her current husband Hamza.
Shakib said the situation got worse after the videos were posted online and he became frustrated and chose to ignore Zari’s calls, leading to her publicly accusing him of being “unmanly” and not contributing to their relationship.
