Today, Sunday, dozens of settlers stormed the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the direction of the Mughaliba Gate and made a provocative tour of its courtyard and performed Talmudic ceremonies under the protection of the occupation police.
Occupation police stationed at the Old City and at the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque also prevented some citizens from entering, resulting in a decrease in the number of worshippers.
Meanwhile, thousands of settlers are preparing to attack the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem tonight to celebrate what they call the “Torch Festival,” which they are marking in and around a cave that they claim contains a tomb. Simon the Friend.
The Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has been completely closed since Sunday morning and movement within the neighborhood’s streets has been prohibited to facilitate settler movement after they occupied vacant lots in the neighborhood and bulldozed them in preparation for a Judaizing settlement celebration.
Residents feared that their children and nearby youth would be attacked by settlers and occupation police, who, under the pretext of visiting what they called the “Simon Siddiq” cave, marched from the site of the celebrations to neighborhoods near residents’ homes armed with weapons.
