Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian stated this during the Punctul pe Azi program on TVR Moldova, rupor.md reports
However, the Chisinau authorities must do everything possible to “smooth EU integration” and resolve the frozen conflict.
“If you remember the statements of Josep Borrell, Brussels was very frank and he was not the only one. This encourages us. My view is that this is a very positive signal for those who want to prevent the integration of the Republic of Moldova, and this view is shared by government colleagues or factions that gave a vote of confidence in this government. The EU links it to the unresolved issue of Transnistria. Brussels is saying that the Republic of Moldova will arrive in Brussels regardless of whether this issue is resolved or not,” said Oleg Cereburian.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration clarified that the authorities will make every effort to make progress in resolving the Transnistrian issue.
“But I believe that we must do everything possible to smoothly join the EU. This is our duty. Let’s speed up the process and at least create the prerequisites for resolving this conflict and achieve some success. It would be better if the region could be integrated or have very clear prospects when becoming a member of the EU,” noted Oleg Serebryan.
