News from Angola – The National Copyright and Related Rights Service (SNDAC) has suspended the authority of three cultural organizations responsible for managing collective copyright and related rights activities in the country.
According to a statement obtained today by Angolan newspaper Notícias, these organizations are AUDAC, SADIA and UNAC-SA.
SENADIAC has the power to authorize the collective management of copyright and related rights and to control and supervise the operations of organizations recognized as collective management entities (EGCs).
To this end, a press conference will be held at 11 a.m. this Thursday to make public the decision to suspend the authorization of the above three organizations to carry out collective management activities of copyright and related rights, and clarify the reasons. Behind this decision.
SENADIAC is the agency of the Ministry of Culture with the power to authorize the exercise of collective management of copyright and related rights, and to control and supervise the operations of organizations recognized as collective management entities (EGCs) to ensure strict and effective management and transparency.
AUDAC is the result of negotiations between the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC-SA) and the Angolan Copyright Society (SADIA), both management companies accredited by the Ministry of Culture.
Prior to this decision, SADIA was already facing the problem of acquiring values relevant to its members.There is a unit within UNAC-SA that is responsible for the partnership with AUDAC.
