Libreville, Saturday, August 24, 2024 (Gabon News) – The British Aggreko Group, which specializes in energy production and supplies nearly 30% of Greater Libreville’s electricity, demands a debt of 22.9 million euros, or nearly 15 billion CFA francs, from the Gabon Energy and Water Company (SEEG).

Alec had threatened to suspend service to pressure SEEG for debt, but now the rights have finally been restored. Is the situation that has rocked Greater Libreville all week with homes, public roads and businesses without power as everyone was subject to the rhythm of power outages now a thing of the past?

The answer is yes, according to information provided by Gabonactu, which reports that Gabon paid 15 billion CFA francs to Aggreko to settle the SEEG debt.

“The 15 billion CFA was paid in two installments,” the colleagues said, citing well-informed sources. According to them, the first payment was transferred last Tuesday and the last on Friday, August 23. “The operation was carried out through the private bank BGFIBank”.

SEEG Managing Director Joël Lehman Sandoungout announced that the British company had received the first payment, “I can confirm to you that Aggreko has received 11 million euros in its account. You can check it on Aggreko.” Aggreko confirmed this, but not the second part.

However, it should be noted that this will take place late on Friday afternoon.

Aggreko has been operating in Gabon since 2023, equipped with diesel generators, providing energy solutions that help businesses grow and communities prosper.

Keep in mind that SEEG has been in the news lately, with fraud scandals, computer system hacks, and water and power outages. In order to get to the bottom of the dysfunction affecting the company, the head of state promised to conduct an audit.
