This morning, three Algerians competed in the 800m series, with only the favourite, Djamel Sedjati, qualifying directly.
Starting from the first lane of the fourth series, Sedjati, the best performer of the year, mastered his race perfectly with great results despite a rather slow first lap, and he easily advanced to the 800m semi-finals.
Ali Gouaned missed out on the second series as he finished most of the way outside, but in the final 100m he was hampered by a competitor and lost his way, finishing seventh.
Another great hope, Slimane Moula had an even worse performance in his series, finishing last despite a better result than Gouned. While he seemed to have the game under control by positioning himself at third, he was unable to keep up with the pace of the fish.
There is still hope that Goanede and Mora can complete the resurrection match, but their situation may become complicated if another game is played.
