The Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Relations and Digitalization, Zolt Szabo, will pay a working visit to Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire from August 11 to 16, 2024.
This is the first working visit of the new Secretary of State to the Saudi Caribbean. It will be followed by a visit to the Windward Islands. This first trip is mainly to familiarize yourself with the islands and the people who manage them. During the visit, the Secretary of State will meet with the Governors of Aruba and Curaçao, the Prime Minister and other Ministers, as well as the Governor of Bonaire.

Aruba
State Secretary Szabo will begin a working visit to Aruba on August 11, where he will meet with Governor Alfonso Bokhot, Prime Minister Evelyne Weaver-Kroes, and other ministers from Weaver-Kroes’ cabinet. Szabo also met with State President Edgar Frolick and was introduced to the state members of the Kingdom Relations Committee. In addition, the program includes visits to the Kia Prison and the Aruba National Archives, a visit to San Nicolas, and meetings with business representatives. The State Secretary will be updated on the progress of the national package.
Curacao
On Tuesday, August 13, the Secretary of State will go to Curaçao, where a full program awaits him. The agenda includes meetings with Governor General Lucille George-Votte, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and other ministers of the Pisas Cabinet, and the Secretary of State will meet with the President of the States, Charity America Francesca, and members of the Kingdom’s States Relations Committee. The Secretary of State will also visit the island during which various important (economic) developments will be discussed, and meetings are planned with the National Reform Committee and the Governors of the Central Banks of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. Finally, the Secretary of State also met with chain partners in the field of justice and visited the Parreira Naval Base, where he will be briefed on the activities of the Coast Guard.
Bonaire
After Curaçao, the Secretary of State will travel to Bonaire, where he will have introductory meetings with the new Governor General, John Soriano, and Acting Kingdom Representative, Jan Helmond. The trip will also include an introduction to the members of the Executive Council, a tour of the North Side of Bonaire, the salt pans, the Bonaire Marine Park, and an introduction to the members of the Central Dialogue, a body of employers, unions, local governments and chambers of commerce.
On Friday 16 August, State Secretary Saab will return to the Netherlands.
