The Greens have pledged to give Queenslanders the chance to receive a free consultation from a public psychologist at one of 200 new health clinics before the October election.
Under its mental health care plan, the Greens will employ 1000 psychologists to work in 200 new public health clinics across the state.
Queenslanders who visit the clinics will receive 20 free counselling sessions, 10 more than Medicare currently subsidises under the Mental Health Care Scheme.
“We will set up 50 public health clinics each year and by 2028, 60,000 patients will have regular access to 20 free consultations with public psychologists each year,” the party said in a statement.

“The federal government’s decision to double the number of mental health care plan consultations to 20 during the pandemic has changed so many lives,” said Green Party health spokeswoman Amy MacMahon.
“I’ve heard from countless Queenslanders, both patients and mental health professionals, that 10 sessions with a psychologist is not enough.
“With rent and grocery prices skyrocketing, people simply can’t afford to pay $200 or more for counseling.”
The party also backed a call by the Australian Psychological Society to allow about 8000 provisionally registered psychologists – practitioners who have not completed full training – to be billed through Medicare.
The Greens will increase the base mining royalty to 35 per cent as part of their election campaign promise.
