DETROIT (AP) — Kerry Carpenter hit two homers after returning from a back injury, Jake Rogers drove in seven runs and Tarik Skubal earned his major league-leading 14th win as the Detroit Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 15-1 on Tuesday.

Rogers hit two runs in the third inning, a grand slam in the fourth and an RBI double in the sixth, becoming the first Tiger player to hit seven runs in a game since Ryan Raborn against the Chicago White Sox on July 25, 2007.

The Tigers scored a season high and had a season-high 21 hits to win two straight games and their fourth in seven games.

Skubal allowed one run on three hits in six innings. The 27-year-old left-handed pitcher struck out nine and raised his major league total to 180. He walked one and struck out two. Joey Wentz was outstanding over the final three innings and earned his first major league save.

Seattle’s George Kirby (8-9) had the worst game of his career, allowing the most runs (11) and hits (13) in just 3 2/3 innings.

For the Mariners, Dominican Julio Rodríguez 3-1 and Cuban-Mexican Randy Arozarena 3-1.

For the Tigers, Colombian player Gio Urshela went 4-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI, while Puerto Rican Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs.
