The Qatar Science Club, under the patronage of the Youth Affairs Department of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, organizes a series of youth activities to celebrate the International Youth Day on August 12 every year.
The club explained in a statement today that these activities are part of the activities and programs of the Science Summer 24, which focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals in the SDG Application Program (SDG TECH), in which a workshop was organized to discuss the concept of sustainable development and its goals, in addition to … to develop comprehensive applications.
The club also organized another seminar titled “Engineering Applications of Sustainable Development Goals,” which discussed sustainable agriculture and sustainable energy in addition to sustainable engineering design and sustainable recycling.
The event included an exhibition of architectural sustainability hackathons and sustainable engineering models, and also showcased a group of projects, including a refrigeration helmet model project, a sustainable engineering building model project, a road guardrail installation project, and an air quality sensor project. In addition, there were ten engineering models printed with 3D printers.
Iman Al-Obaidi, head of public relations and community communications at the Science Club, said in a statement that the participation of the Qatar Science Club in the International Youth Day comes within the framework of this year’s celebration theme “From clicks to progress… Youth digital pathways for sustainable development”, which has a focus on the international community’s interest in youth issues and celebrating their potential, as they are partners of the international community and have the highest rates of use of social media and the Internet in general.
She explained that the exhibition organized by the club this time highlighted young people and their role in recent times, both in the Future Engineers Program and the Engineering Challenge, within the framework of inspiring young people and promoting their achievements to society. In particular, the number of people who signed up for this celebration exceeded 200 young people, including a girl, which reflects the degree of desire of young people to interact with social problems and actively participate in developing the right solutions.
Engineer Munira Al-Shuraim, a trainer at the Science Club, explained that such workshops held by the club focus on sustainable development issues and introduce these terms to young people, as they may hear them but do not know their importance or the goals and programs they refer to.
On the other hand, the Qatar Science Club, in collaboration with the Al-Shamal Sports Club, held a lecture on the applications of artificial intelligence for club members on the occasion of International Youth Day.
In this regard, the youth team of Al-Saiiya Club, under the supervision of the Youth Affairs Department of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the National Cybersecurity Agency, organized a lecture within the 2024 summer activity program entitled “Awareness of Cybersecurity Risks”, aimed at raising awareness of cybersecurity threats and highlighting the most prominent behaviors that help protect students from cyber risks. In addition, this helps to strengthen the values ​​of maintaining personal and social security. Introducing young people to their role in society, the responsibilities they bear, and how to cultivate them to be able to build society, interact with it, and contribute to the progress of the country.
