Saudi Arabia issues new decision on conditions and requirements for residence or visit visas for resident wives, announces new fees and conditions

In order to enhance family stability for residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Interior has announced updates to the conditions and procedures for bringing the wives of residents to visit relatives in 2024. These updates are made within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality of life of residents and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as an attractive destination for international talent.

According to data released by the General Statistics Office, the number of Saudi family visas issued in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 15% compared with the same period last year. This increase reflects the success of the new policy in promoting family reunification and enhancing social stability among residents.

The main requirements for visiting relatives with a wife include: 1. The resident must be privately guaranteed and have a monthly salary of no less than 5,000 Saudi Riyals. 2. Provide a house rental contract certified by the Real Estate Chamber of Commerce. 3. Submit a marriage certificate certified by the Saudi Embassy in the woman’s country. 4. Proof of financial ability to pay for the tourist’s accommodation and health insurance.

As for the cost, I explained Ministry of the Interior The cost of issuing a 2024 family visit visa is 300 Saudi riyals, in addition to the mandatory health insurance premium (which ranges from 400 to 500 Saudi riyals, depending on the length of the visit).

Regarding the duration of the visit and the possibility of renewal, the family visa is valid for 90 days and can be renewed up to twice, which means that the wife can stay for a total of 270 days. However, the ministry said that in special cases, additional extension requests can be considered based on the submission of strong reasons and approval by the competent authorities.

Colonel Moussad al-Otaibi, the official spokesman for Saudi passports, said: “These updates are aimed at striking a balance between facilitating family reunification procedures and ensuring compliance with the Kingdom’s residency regulations as we strive to provide a stable and secure environment for all residents while safeguarding national interests.”

“These updates underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and their families while maintaining necessary regulatory controls. It is expected that these measures will help increase resident satisfaction and strengthen the Kingdom’s attractiveness to international talent, thereby supporting the Kingdom’s overall development process.”
