The 10th Sanatan World Cup opened in Sydney at the weekend.
The colourful event was attended by distinguished guests from Sanatan World Cup Sports and Culture and Sanatan Youth Sports Australia, as well as officials and guests from Australia Fiji Football Incorporated (AUFFI), New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated (NZFFI) and member representatives.
Neelesh Ram, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sanatan World Cup Sports and Culture, revealed at the grand launch ceremony that this year’s event will be bigger and more exciting in many ways.
He said this year’s World Cup was a testament to their resilience in the face of challenges and their determination to succeed.
“Sport has the power to bring us together, so through this World Cup event, we aim to unite the Sanatan community across the globe and create an atmosphere that not only promotes community sports but also celebrates our unique culture and traditions.”
Ram said the World Cup will feature sports and cultural events, with sports including football, netball, volleyball, golf and billiards.
“We are very grateful that teams from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada and the United States have already confirmed their participation.”
“The organising committee has been working tirelessly to ensure the event is a success and aims to improve on the last edition held in Queensland.”
“It is a great honour for the Sanatan community in Sydney to host this prestigious event and the 10thday The Sanatan World Cup is expected to be one of the biggest ethnic World Cups held across the globe.
He added that the World Cup would be sanctioned by the Fiji Football Association and thanked Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel and chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf for their continued support.
The World Cup is scheduled to be held at the Spartan Sports Centre in Blacktown from September 26 to 29, with the entire event sponsored by the Rams Group of Companies.
