Sam Walker and Brandon Smith both limped off in the first half against the Raiders in what could have been a major blow to the Roosters’ finals campaign.

Walker rolled on the ground in agony after attempting to tackle Canberra raider Simi Sasagi, clutching his knee in obvious pain until the Roosters’ physios and trainers helped him off the field.

Fox News reported on Sunday that Walker had suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Roosters have yet to make an official comment.

Last year, Walker also partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee. That sidelined him for three months.

Roosters hooker Smith was also helped off the field after being tackled on the hip by Canberra’s Elliott Whitehead, who was adjudged to have committed a foul for the incident, while Canberra defender Jordan Rapana had to leave the field with a fractured cheekbone after a collision with James Tedesco.

More to come…
