“The negotiations were very fruitful”
Sadyr Japarov today met with the country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a small and expanded format during his state visit to Uzbekistan.
According to the Kyrgyz Presidential Palace, the two sides held extensive discussions on current issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on prospects for economic and trade cooperation, investments and implementation of joint projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, etc.
Japarov said that the negotiations just held were very fruitful.
Kyrgyzstan is ready to further strengthen its close friendly and good-neighborly relations with Uzbekistan. I am convinced that the results of today’s negotiations will inject new impetus into the continuous development of bilateral relations. Today, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are close neighbors, loyal friends and strategic partners. We have achieved major breakthroughs in a short period of time, pushing bilateral relations to a new level. State border issues have been resolved, cooperation projects in the fields of economy, energy, transportation, humanitarianism, etc. are actively promoted, and inter-parliamentary and inter-regional cooperation is gaining momentum. Strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan is undoubtedly a priority of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. “Sadir Japarov stressed.
He pointed out that the two governments have set a goal of doubling their mutual trade in the next few years. The governments continue to work actively to implement the agreements reached by the parties. Large-scale joint investment, transportation and energy projects are being implemented continuously.
The President noted Kyrgyzstan’s interest in quickly completing the border demarcation process with Uzbekistan and raising bilateral relations to the alliance level, and recalled the agreement reached last year after the Uzbek President’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan – to establish the Supreme Interstate Highway Council.
Among the projects being implemented, the President particularly emphasized the construction of a passenger car and agricultural machinery assembly plant and a textile production plant in the Cui region. He said that all the projects that have been launched, are being implemented and are planned to be implemented will inject new and powerful impetus into the overall cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The President particularly pointed out the importance of implementing the Kambarata No. 1 Hydropower Station, the Chatkal River Hydropower Station, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway, and the Chatkal-Tashkent Highway.
