The Irish squad has been selected for next week’s R&A women’s and men’s domestic internationals in Scotland.

The competition takes place at Murcar Links from August 7 to 9 and Aideen Walsh (Lahinch) is automatically selected for the Bridgestone Order of Merit women’s team.

The line-up has a wealth of experience, with Sarah Byrne (Douglas), Beth Coulter (Kirkstown Castle), Emma Fleming (Elm Park) and Kate Lanigan (The Hermits) all returning this year.

Anna Foster (Elm Park) returns after temporarily withdrawing from the AIG Women’s Open last year after qualifying, while Aine Donegan (Lahinch) was competing in the U.S. Women’s Amateur but is available to play and be selected this time.

Liam Nolan (Galway) returns after his Open appearance to add a wealth of experience to the men’s squad. Colm Campbell (Warrenpoint) was a member of last year’s squad, while Seán Keeling (Loganstown) was part of the 2023 men’s winning squad.

Paul Coughlan (Castleknock) is an automatic inductee for the Bridgestone Order of Merit, along with Hugh Foley (Royal Dublin), Ryan Griffin (Ballybofey and Stranorah), Thomas Higgins (Roscommon), Josh Hill (Galgorm Castle) and Luke O’Neill (Connemara).

Max Kennedy (Royal Dublin) and Caolan Rafferty (Dundalk) both automatically qualified through the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and Matt McClean automatically qualified through the World Amateur Golf Ranking and the Bridgestone Order of Merit, but neither of them were able to compete.
