Jakarta(ANTARA) –
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Sheikh Abdulkarim Halimana, expressed hope to sign several new agreements with Indonesia during the second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF).

The forum will be held in Bali from September 1 to 3, 2024.

“We expect that during the IAF, some other MoUs will be signed, especially between the PSF and Kadin,” Harelimana told Antara newspaper on Thursday, referring to the PSF, which has a similar role to Kadin.

Regarding the planned collaboration between the two organizations, he said a PSF delegation will travel to Indonesia to sign a memorandum of understanding with Kadin during the Indian Astronautical Federation series of events.

They will also share best practices and explore business opportunities with Kadin and other partners.

In addition, Rwanda hopes to sign a memorandum of understanding in the security field during the meeting with the Indian Air Force.

“Security issues were discussed. I mean the Indonesian National Police and the Rwandan National Police. A memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries was also drafted,” the ambassador revealed.

In addition to the agreements that Rwanda will reach during the forum series, in the future Harelimana hopes to ensure more cooperation between the two countries, including in the areas of education, academics and student exchanges.

Rwanda is also interested in cooperating on visa exemption for ordinary passports. Rwanda has previously signed a visa exemption agreement with China for diplomatic and official passports.

In addition, the possibility of cooperation in areas such as defense industry, agriculture, culture, mining, technological innovation and artificial intelligence is also considered.

“So Indonesia is also working in this direction. And of course, cooperation between the two countries, as well as cooperation between Africa and Indonesia in this field, is also very necessary for developing countries and countries of the Global South,” he added.

The theme of the second Indonesia-Africa Forum is “Bandung Spirit Supports Africa’s Agenda 2063”, hoping to lay the foundation for future cooperation between Indonesia and African countries.

The forum’s priority areas of cooperation include economic transformation, energy, mining, food security, health, development, etc.
