Rust is a 9-year-old programming language. TIOBE Programming Language Community Index This month, Rust rose from 17th to 13th, jumping from 0.93% in the proprietary TIOBE scoring system in May to 1.18% in July. The top 10 programming language list remained largely stable, with Go following closely behind in 7th place. A sharp rise last month.

Rust recommended by the US government
TIOBE Software has been keeping a close eye on Rust as it has been gradually rising in the rankings.

“Moving up four spots may seem like a small change, but Rust has been a ‘hot topic’ for the past few years without making much headway in the TIOBE index,” TIOBE Software CEO Paul Jansen wrote in a July update.
Rust is recommended by the US government as a safer alternative to C or C++ because it Memory SafetyThis has allowed Rust to continue to climb in the index rankings. In terms of TIOBE’s proprietary points system, Rust increased by 0.29% year-on-year to 1.18%, setting a new record high.
“The community is growing, and the number of third-party libraries and tools is increasing,” said Jansen, who predicts Rust will be among the top ten in the TIOBE index.

Other changes in the TIOBE Index in July
Go remains a programming language to watch in the TIOBE index, jumping from 13th to 7th place compared to last year. C++ saw a slight increase in popularity, while C saw a decrease in popularity, but neither change was enough to change the ranking of either language.
