The Russian law will officially come into effect in a few hours. Anyone who does not voluntarily register as an “agent” is threatened with forced registration by the government. The Ministry of Justice has set up a special department. From this morning, all media and civil organizations that receive foreign funding are obliged to register on the register.

Despite Lati Bregadze’s statement yesterday about the removal of the platform, the Third Sector said it would not be registered on the register and abide by Russian law.

We will not comply with this repressive Russian law, we will not register on our own initiative, so in early September the Ministry of Justice may do so, and most likely a receipt for a fine will be issued, but we do not care. “We do not comply with Russian laws” – said Aleksandre Baramidze, a member of “Transparency International-Georgia”.

Baya Patalaya, executive director of Safar, said that if the Constitutional Court does not stop the law, the Georgian people will stop it on October 26.

Obviously, we will not register and we will not comply with this Russian law. We will not pay these fines either, they may have to take other measures. If this law is not repealed by the same government, and also by the Constitutional Court, then this law will be repealed by the people. Baya Pataraya said that the people will repeal this law when they hold elections on October 26, and then they will make up their mind and make their voice heard.
