Pro-Russian Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov plans to present a modified Cybertruck, a new light truck from American electric car manufacturer Tesla, to Russian troops sending troops to Ukraine, and invites CEO Elon Musk to visit the local area. Tesla has not responded yet.
Musk sent a gift invitation to visit
Kadyrov posted a video clip on his social media channel last Saturday (17th), showing a Cybertruck with a machine gun mounted on the rear, claiming that the vehicle was received from “Respected Musk”. He stood on the launch pad wearing an ammunition belt, and personally drove the Cybertruck to test its performance, describing it as a solid body, good performance, fast and comfortable, a veritable “electric beast” that will be sent to the Ukrainian front, and is believed to bring great benefits to the Russian army.
He also praised Musk as a contemporary genius and invited him to visit Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, saying he would personally entertain him and believed that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs would not mind. He also hoped that Tesla’s new products could be used in the military and in the Russian-Ukrainian war. After testing the modified car, the Russian army will recommend how to modify the settings.
Kadyrov, 47, has been sanctioned by the United States and the West since 2007 for violating human rights in Chechnya. He has a close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and revealed in May that a total of 43,500 Chechen soldiers have been sent to Ukraine to fight since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war two years ago. Tesla did not respond to media inquiries about whether Musk had sent a car to Kadyrov.
Each Cybertruck model is priced at nearly US$120,000 (approximately HK$936,000).
In recent years, the technology products of Musk’s companies have been used in the military from time to time, which has attracted attention from the outside world. For example, Ukraine uses Starlink satellites for military communications to avoid interference from the Russian army. The US Congress is also investigating the rumors that the Russian army uses Starlink. Musk previously supported Ukraine to cede land to Russia to achieve a ceasefire, and opposed the United States to continue to support Ukraine.
