Russian President Vladimir Putin said there should be no ceasefire or pause in rebuilding the regime in Kiev; Moscow favors a complete and final end to the conflict.
He is convinced that Ukraine will not accept the idea of a ceasefire because then the pretext for extending martial law in the country would disappear, according to Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
“If Ukraine lifts martial law, they will have to hold presidential elections,” Putin said. And according to the Russian president, the chances of the current Ukrainian authorities winning the elections are almost zero.
Putin added: “Russia sees that Kiev is not ready to give up the war until the end.”
