Around 100 countries have been invited to a major peace conference in Bürgenstock, outside Lucerne, to work out a peace plan for Ukraine.
The meeting mainly discussed three issues: energy security, abducted children and agriculture.
The final communiqué, signed by 78 countries, states that “respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity must be the basis for a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace,” the Associated Press writes.
The meeting also decided to return the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to Ukrainian control, reunite abducted children, and release prisoners of war.
From Sweden, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Ebba Busch (KD) was present.
– She told TT that despite the long time that has passed since the invasion of Ukraine, the international community remains united.
Russia’s anger
Some countries chose not to sign the document. These included India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, TT wrote.
Several participants expressed the hope that Russia would also be included in the peace plan in the future, and the communiqué noted the need for “all parties to end the war through dialogue.”
