Riyadh Environment deployed 2,300 employees and workers in utility markets and slaughterhouses during Eid al-Adha

With the approach of Eid al-Adha 1445, the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Riyadh region has intensified its work and has deployed more than (2,350) employees and workers in public places to complete the preparation of public utility markets and slaughterhouses in various neighborhoods of Riyadh, to supervise and monitor the markets to ensure that these places meet the regulatory, health and technical requirements for sacrifice; This is to ensure the safety and health of humans, as well as to ensure the safety of animals and their protection from epidemics and diseases, which is the priority of the ministry. Ali Mansoor, director of the department, confirmed the completion of the equipment and personnel capacity in the operational plan for managing slaughterhouses and public welfare markets during Eid al-Fitr. He stated that in order to improve the quality of business and facilitate the service to vendors, citizens and residents, the technical team of the branch includes employees, experts, veterinarians, etc. in addition to a large number of slaughterhouse workers to supervise and monitor them to ensure that the health requirements for sacrificial animals are implemented.

He pointed out that the number of sites included in the operational plan during Eid al-Fitr reached (179) sites in the Riyadh region. These include (61) fixed slaughterhouses, (47) markets for the sale of livestock and fodder, as well as (7) slaughterhouses, (3) livestock and fodder markets, (5) mobile slaughterhouses for temporary slaughter and (7) temporary points for livestock sales in the city of Riyadh, noting that the Ministry has allowed advance booking of slaughterhouses and reservation of temporary sales locations for citizens. This is done by entering the “Nama” electronic portal, and some outlets have been allocated to receive one-third of the offerings from citizens in coordination with charitable groups to maximize the benefits from the ceremony.

He explained that the action plan also includes checking livestock when they enter the Kingdom and tracking them in barns. If livestock show symptoms of disease, they are excluded. In addition to monitoring violations and ensuring that slaughterhouses are committed to using sound environmental methods to process meat, it is also necessary to send a commitment to citizens and residents on the need to slaughter their offerings in regular slaughterhouses and stay away from random slaughter; to protect the environment and safeguard public health.

It is noteworthy that the branch’s inspection of the Riyadh Public Welfare Market and slaughterhouse is carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, including the control and supervision of various activities in the market to provide a healthy and good environment and improve the quality and efficiency of service provision to beneficiaries.
