Some 335 Bhutanese have registered for the reintegration programme

According to the Ministry of Employment and Entrepreneurship, as of August 9, 2024, a total of 335 Bhutanese nationals have registered for the National Reintegration Program (NRP) under the REVIVE program.
Among the registered returnees, there are 193 males and 142 females.
The National Resettlement Programme aims to meet the needs of Bhutanese and integrate them into the local workforce to enable their smooth reintegration into society.
Of the registered individuals, 163 (nearly 49%) expressed interest in civil service positions, reflecting their strong preference for the stability and security offered by public sector employment in Bhutan.
Among them, most of the returnees came from Australia, totaling 188 people, accounting for 56.4%.
The Ministry of Employment and Entrepreneurship said these registered returnees were mainly seeking stable employment after returning to Bhutan.
While many are looking for stable job opportunities, others have shown interest in entrepreneurial training.
This could lead to an increase in entrepreneurial activity as these returnees seek to establish new businesses.
To ensure the success of the programme, the Ministry of Employment and Entrepreneurship has been actively engaging with stakeholders through consultative meetings aimed at mobilizing support for the economic and psychosocial reintegration of returnees.
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment is committed to providing career guidance, advocacy and promoting re-employment opportunities, but success depends largely on job market conditions and the willingness of sectors to absorb these returnees.
Furthermore, the ministry said the NRP is a multi-sectoral initiative and the ministry plans to identify specific areas of interest for registrants to facilitate their reintegration into society. For those who need to be re-employed, a promotion and referral process will be implemented in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
If there are no vacancies in the preferred field or the candidate is not selected, we will explore other job opportunities through career counseling and guidance.
Additionally, aspiring entrepreneurs will receive entrepreneurship training and other business development services, ensuring that returnees are provided with the tools and support they need to achieve long-term economic stability.
The “National Rescue Plan” launched by the Bhutanese government this year aims to support refugees returning to Bhutan and contribute to the country’s development.
