Review. Kabin Crew shines on Pukkelpop

With the arrival of Kabin Crew, the record for the youngest artist ever to perform at Pukkelpop was undoubtedly broken. Among the 17 Irish kids who came to play there was a 9-year-old girl. A record that will stand for some time.

The dance hall was packed and the kids immediately hit a cool beat, good stuff, but it was unusual to hear skinny kids banging on it. Funny thing: people participated well but couldn’t understand their Cork accent. Then just yelled along with the pronunciation. You probably ordered two steak tartare at the same time. It even got better: Kabin Crew wanted to show their entire arsenal, which also meant some solo songs by the teenagers. One of them rapped in Irish. So did Gaelic. The audience was completely confused!

Anyway. And so they keep going until the moment arrives: The Spark performs live at Pukkelpop. First, the kids from the Lisdoonvarna Crew appear on the screen, and they also contribute to the song. Children whose parents are in asylum proceedings and are therefore prohibited from travelling abroad.

The kids there are having a blast now – hula hooping included – and the tent is fully integrated into last summer’s hit The Spark and the Kabin Crew and Kabin Studio operation – suddenly sparking the kids’ creativity to make it world famous. The Spark is the ultimate spark in the powder keg, a bomb in the now packed ballroom, with many people outside the tent watching the concert on a big screen.

There’s been a green renaissance in Ireland lately that’s been dropping act after act at festivals, and with the potential that Kabin Crew have, the future seems assured for a long time to come.
