Revaz Mikhanashvili, who was beaten by an inspector of the Special Duties Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, died. He had been in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of the clinic for several days.

Later, another defendant in the case was identified. According to the Ministry of the Interior, this person is Ioseb Barjadze, who knows all the details of what happened in Athens. However, they are still looking for him.

On August 9, the prosecutor’s office filed charges against the GDD inspector and the golden witness in the case in connection with the confrontation in Athens. Both were charged with serious, life-threatening damage to health, which is punishable by 9 to 13 years in prison.

It is understood that the defendant’s brother is a senior official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the brother of Mikhanashvili, who died from the beating, is an active employee of Interpol. Sources said that he returned to Georgia after the incident.
