The resistance movement issued a statement on Sunday evening accusing Netanyahu "Liability for hindering the efforts of the mediator" and undermining the Gaza ceasefire.

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas said: "We have taken all the responsibilities and all the proposals aimed at reaching an agreement to stop the aggression against our people and reach an agreement on prisoner exchange, sparing the bloodshed of our people, with the efforts of our Qatari and Egyptian mediation brothers, to put an end to the genocidal war, ethnic cleansing and brutal massacres being perpetrated by the occupation government and army against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The Movement also expressed its approval of the mediator’s proposal on May 6, 2024, welcoming President Biden’s announcement and the contents of the UN Security Council resolution, and responded to the proposal made by the mediator, which it approved on July 2/2024.

The movement said the new proposal responded to and was in line with Netanyahu’s conditions, particularly his rejection of a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and his insistence on continuing to occupy the Nezarim hub and the Rafah crossing. He also set new conditions in the prisoner exchange document and withdrew other items that prevented the completion of the exchange agreement.

We hold Netanyahu fully responsible for thwarting the efforts of the mediators, for obstructing an agreement, and for the lives of his prisoners, who face the same dangers as our people due to his ongoing aggression and systematic persecution targeting every aspect of life in the Gaza Strip.
