Sad news came over the weekend: Juan Gilbertus Schwengle, better known as “Juanie” or Mr. Schwengle, has passed away after a long battle with his health.
This was an extraordinary man with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. A model school teacher who is fondly remembered to this day by all his former students. An extraordinary former colleague. Always ready to lend a helping hand. An all-to-all man who always said we were all equal.

With such beautiful handwriting, he handwrote advertisements for ECA NV and was also their first employee.
After serving as a teacher and acting president at St. Dominican College, she accepted the challenge of participating in the “School of Love” project to help “foreign language” children integrate into our community.
Juani was called to help with the new project “Papiamento in Schools”, to which he dedicated his time, love and passion. He was happy the day they announced that Papiamento was officially in all schools, because he had always believed in the project. It was with great pain that he had to retire, with only half of the project left.

Juani had many health challenges recently, but his faith in God and desire for life always prevailed. He leaves behind his wife Oddy, children Josette, Tahnee and Nathan-John. His life: Chanel, Clyde-John, Isaac and Dominic and his entire family are now in great pain.
