The representative of the department reported that currently the legislation of the Republic of Moldova uses the terms “administrative-territorial unit/settlement of Transnistria and the municipality of Benderi”, “Eastern region of the Republic of Moldova” and “region of the Left Bank of Transnistria”, reports realitatea.md

“The term “Transnistria” came into use even before the First World War and refers to the territory on the left bank of the Dniester River, inhabited mainly by Moldovans. The term appears in some normative acts of the Republic of Moldova, including the Declaration of Independence.

We regret that Tiraspol resorted to provocative statements that do not reflect historical realities at all and are not conducive to the negotiation process,” the press service of the Political Bureau of Reintegration said in a statement.

We remind you that on August 29, 2024, the region’s leader Vadim Krasnoselsky said he wanted to ban the use of the term “Transnistria” in Transnistria on the grounds that it represents “fascism.” Krasnoselsky said he had proposed a project that would provide new norms for the so-called legislation.
