According to the Ministry of Labor and Trade, the rehabilitation program will be completed by August. A total of 335 Bhutanese have registered for the national unified program.
There are 193 males and 142 females returning from abroad.
The National Reintegration Plan is one of the needs of returnees and social work, and is aimed at ensuring the provision of consolidation services.
Of those who registered, 63 or 63% expressed interest in joining the civil service because of the stability and security of the Bhutanese public sector.
The country’s returnees mainly came from Australia, with 188 people registered to return, accounting for 56.4%.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Enterprise, the registered returnees are secure, they are looking for work, most of them are taking advantage of sustainable opportunities, some are looking for work and they are willing to do business.
There is interest among overseas returnees to start new businesses and there is much room for improvement in this activity. The department will continue to work hard to ensure the success of the program and they are consulting with relevant agencies.
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor is taking steps to focus on career guidance, awareness and re-employment opportunities.
However, good results depend on the conditions of the job opportunities and the receptiveness of the businesses.
The ministry said the scheme is a multi-agency effort and registered with the ministry, which will help people get into the type of work they are interested in.
Support for re-employment and coordination with relevant agencies on the reinstatement process will be implemented.
If a registrant does not have a preferred career and is not selected, alternative employment search support will be provided through counseling.
Business and development training will be provided to those interested in starting new businesses. Returnees will be employed to achieve long-term economic sustainability. Necessary equipment and support will be provided.
The government has launched a program to support foreigners coming to Bhutan to contribute to the country’s development.
