This articleauthorDr. Liu JinxingHonorary President of the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council, and a columnist for the Hong Kong Economic Times“The Words of God“.
The Paris Olympics came to a successful conclusion. The national team won the championship for the first time in many events, such as women’s tennis singles, men’s 100m freestyle, rhythmic swimming, etc., winning a total of 40 gold medals, which is really exciting. The SAR government generously donated money so that citizens can choose to sit at home or watch the events on the big screen in the shopping mall to cheer for Hong Kong and the national team. Hong Kong has achieved the best results ever, and the high-level performance of the athletes makes us proud. Regardless of whether there are medals or not, the athletes have shown extraordinary strength and professionalism, fully embodying the spirit of sports.
As a member of Hong Kong’s industrial sector, I am deeply touched by the perseverance of athletes, which makes me realize the importance of determination, persistence, perseverance and will. Hong Kong’s industry is now moving towards a new industrialization direction, focusing on innovation and design technology, and the manufacturing part is only a part of the entire industrial chain. Take the 64-year-old Federation of Hong Kong Industries as an example. In addition to traditional construction, electrical appliances, garments and other groups, in recent years, it has also added biotechnology and healthcare driven by advanced technology, automation technology, innovation and creative industries, environmental protection industries and information technology groups, and promoted the upgrading and transformation of traditional industries.

In the women’s epee final, Jiang Minhui was once at a disadvantage of 1:7, but she miraculously tied the score in the end and won with one sword in the overtime. The road to defending the title for “Sword God” Zhang Jialang was full of thorns, and he won after many adversities. Gymnast Shi Weixiong participated in the competition with half of his leg tendon ligament torn. He risked breaking his leg and felt that he had done his best in the competition, so he was not disappointed with the result. The author believes that practitioners in the industrial sector in Hong Kong have the same characteristics as athletes. Even in the face of adversity, they can respond calmly, be flexible, show amazing perseverance and wisdom, and keep striving forward. Coincidentally, many industrialists in Hong Kong also like sports. They love basketball, football, mountain climbing and tennis. The author has challenged the 100-kilometer Trailwalker competition in Hong Kong and Europe with industrialists. Without long-term training and perseverance, it would be difficult to complete it.
Olympic CharterThe Olympic spirit is “mutual understanding, lasting friendship, unity and fair play.” It symbolizes world peace, friendship and solidarity. Although the competition is fair on the field and the athletes congratulate each other in the face of victory or defeat, the game between the great powers still exists outside the field. The controversy over drug testing, performance and gender has cast a shadow on the Paris Olympics.
The most regrettable thing is that the Olympic spirit has failed to play a role in promoting global peace. During his state visit to France in May, President Xi Jinping proposed that China and France should speak out for peace and contribute to building a world of lasting peace and universal security. He also called for the use of the Paris Olympics as an opportunity to call for a global ceasefire during the Games. This call brought people some hope. However, contrary to expectations, more than 100 people were killed and injured in wars and conflicts in the past two weeks.
