Community groups in Galway could receive up to €100,000 to support the upgrading and refurbishment of community centres, Fine Gael councillor Andrew Reddington said.
In June, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys, announced a new funding round for the 2024 Community Centres Investment Fund.
Redington encourages local groups to submit applications by the 3pm deadline on Thursday, August 29.
“Community centres in Galway play a vital role in our towns and villages and are at the heart of our vibrant communities. This funding provides welcome help in our efforts to improve local community spaces.
“The deadline for applications is August 29 and I urge local groups to complete and submit their applications. Whether it is for minor renovation works, energy upgrades, improved kitchen or bathroom facilities, or something else, the fund will provide grants from €10,000 up to a maximum of €100,000,” Councillor Reddington said.
“I am delighted that Minister Humphreys has recognised the importance of the community centres and the dedication and commitment of the volunteers in Galway by providing this funding.
“Groups should visit the Department of Rural and Development website for more information about the funding, including a video to assist potential applicants.
“We are all aware that our community centres host a wide variety of group activities and events,” he said.
