A Fajardo court judge Monday afternoon arrested Elihangel Silva Rivera for the shooting death of a 44-year-old man inside a big box store in Fajardo last Friday (August 16).
Prosecutors filed charges of violating the Weapons Law, discharging a firearm endangering public safety and attempted murder, Telenoticas (Telemundo) reported.
The man was given a $300,000 bond, but he was unable to post the bond and was sent to jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 26.
The shooting at the Fajardo Walmart big box store late Friday night reportedly saw 24-year-old Silva Rivera shoot and kill another man after an argument inside the store.
Following the incident, Silva Rivera was arrested by agents of the Intelligence and Apprehension Division around 7:00 this evening while in his car on Highway 53 heading from Ceiba in the direction of Fajardo.
The car was driven by a woman who was also detained by agents as part of an investigation conducted by the Fajardo Criminal Investigation Team (CIC).
Silva Rivera had been previously arrested in domestic violence and vehicle theft cases.
