For the enthusiasts we’re back to the weekend as there’s more two-wheeled racing. The World Superbike Championship gets underway in Misano, Italy, and the Marco Simoncelli World Tour schedules three Superbike races.
Game 1
Toprak Razgatlioglu started from pole position, followed by Nicolo Bulega and Remy Gardner on the first row. He was followed by Alex Lowes, Alvaro Bautista and Andrea Locatelli, with Andrea Iannone, Sam Lowes and Dominique Aegerter behind him, and Michael van der Mark starting from 16th.
Gardner was very strong in the opening stages and took the lead ahead of Razgatlioglu, Bautista and Locatelli, who soon saw Blega rejoin. Razgatlioglu passed Gardner fairly quickly and immediately opened up a gap, before Bautista and Blega’s Ducati also passed Gardner.
Lazgatlioglu was not caught again and Bleiga passed teammate Bautista for second place. Locatelli finished fourth, ahead of Alex Lowes, Gardner, Ianno and Van der Mark, who finished eighth.
Super Polar Race
The sprint race started on the same grid and this time Braiga made a great start to take the lead ahead of Razgatlioglu, Alex Los, Bautista and Locatelli. Razgatlioglu quickly regained the lead and opened up a gap to Braiga, whose teammate Bautista crashed early in the race.
This time Lazgatrioglu’s victory was not in danger either, with Blegga once again finishing second. Alex Lowes finished a respectable third, ahead of Locatelli and Iannone. Van der Mark dropped down the order after an incident at the start, but worked his way up to twelfth.
Game 2
The grid was once again determined by the top 9 from the Super Pole race, with the rest being filled in based on qualifying. Razgatlioglu got off to a mediocre start, with Bulega taking the lead ahead of Iannone, who soon made a mistake and had to give up a few places.
Bulega and Razgatlioglu beat Alex Los, who finished third, in the opening stages. Halfway through the race, Razgatlioglu pulled his BMW next to Bulega to take the lead, and then he pulled away at a very fast pace. Bautista did the same with Los to finish third.
Razgatlioglu was untouchable, completing the triple, well ahead of Bulega, who joined Bautista on the podium, ahead of Lowes and Locatelli – Van der Mark did not finish.
