Hessa Ali Khalfan, mother of judokas Rashid Al Ansari and Omar Mohammed Al Ansari, confirmed that they have ambitions to become Olympic champions and raise the profile of the UAE at the World Championships, noting that it provides them with every comfort and convenience in terms of enabling them to continue their professional careers in the game, especially since they have achieved many things over the past period of time.

Hessa Ali Khalfan told UAE Today that she was surprised by her two sons’ ambitions, explaining: “Rashid (15) and Omar (11) are one of the main reasons why I am keeping an eye on them as they continue their careers in the Emirates. She also said she is very proud of the fact that they have been able to compete in judo because I have witnessed how serious they are about their training.

She added: “Omar’s gold medal at the West Asian Championships and Rashid’s silver at the same tournament gave them great confidence that they are at the beginning of the right path, an achievement that encouraged them to continue with their training and commitment to improve their level and graduate in continental and international participation.”

She said she has done her part at home, saying: “I will definitely follow up with them and provide them with the best support I can, I will communicate with the club to reduce the challenges they face, and I will also provide them with healthy food suitable for becoming champions, and provide them with proper sleeping methods and encourage them not to stay up late and always keep a positive vibe.”

She continued her speech: “Rashid won nine gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals in the various competitions he participated in, while Omar won nine gold medals and two silver medals. I express my gratitude to coaches Islam Abdel Fattah and El Hadi El Jawadi for the huge role they played in raising their level.”

Hessa Ali Khalfan stressed that it is her vision as a mother that sports will not affect the professional future of the two brothers, noting that their continued participation in the Samurai Warrior competitions will help them shape their personalities and allow them to be confident in their academic and professional futures.

Advanced Projects

Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club describes its players Rashid Muhammad Al-Ansari and his brother Omar Al-Ansari as an integral part of the club-led advanced programme to develop talented players capable of achieving international competitions and Olympic results in the future. Thanks to their supportive environment in judo, they have climbed the international podium and the club is looking forward to their participation in the next Youth Olympic Games in Senegal in 2026, as well as preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Athlete Omar Ansari successfully won the gold medal in the 73kg category in the same age group at the West Asian Championships, while his brother Rashid Ansari won the silver medal in the 81kg category at the same event held in Jordan in July last year.

Sustainable development and looking to the future

Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, confirmed that the club is leading a comprehensive project to develop international champions in various sports, including judo, in collaboration with the UAE Judo Federation, and supports the Sharjah Sports Council’s focus on predicting the future and sustainable development of sports, stressing that players Omar and Rashid are at the forefront of the club’s future judo talents.

Al Owais told UAE Today that the club supports talented individuals and seeks to provide champions who will become the best representatives of the country in various competitions, explaining: “Our vision is that any talented player can become a future champion, so we provide the best way to provide him with success, from the training environment all the way to participating in international competitions and communicating with his family. We always review their wishes and ambitions with them and try to predict the future. “This is the basis of our work. We are also keen on sustainable technical analysis of their level and the development of their technical and mental specifications, as we value the club’s sports training department and its director Abdulaziz Al-Hammadi and technical director Islam Abdel Fattah and coaches.

He concluded: “In addition to Rashid and Omar, there are about 25 talented players who can stand out in the future. Their team includes about 150 players of different age groups.”

The Judo Federation is the main supporter

Mohammed Jassim Al Sajwani, Assistant Secretary General of the UAE Judo Federation and Vice President of the West Asian Judo Federation, praised the efforts of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club and stressed that the project to train Olympic judo champions at the club is one of Sharjah’s important sports projects and the Judo Federation is proud to support it.

He said: “The Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club project is very beautiful. Our federation is open to all projects that are in the interest of UAE sports, especially judo. We are grateful to the club’s management and are proud to be part of this project, not just a partner, to promote its success. For our part, we use these programs to promote their success and contribute to their success. We are proud to have an Emirati club that thinks and works well. “That’s it, that’s it. “
