Former coach Simon Raiwalui and the Fiji Aquatics took home two awards at the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards in Suva last night.
Raiwalui won the Coach of the Year award while Flying Fijians was named Team of the Year.
He is best known for leading Fiji to the Pacific Nations Cup, their upset win over England at Twickenham Stadium and their first victory over Australia in 69 years at last year’s World Cup in France.
Raiwa Rui was also recognised for helping the Fijian Flyers reach the World Cup quarter-finals after 16 years.
He did not attend the ceremony and FRU administrator Sale Sorovaki accepted the award on his behalf.
The Flying Fiji team was honoured for its achievements in 2023, which included beating England at Twickenham and beating the Wallabies for the first time in 69 years.
